VICKI PIPPIN
MENTAL HEALTH ADVISOR
Hello! I’m Vicki, and I’m honored to join Dr. Tecaya’s healing space as a mental health advisor. I believe the mind, body, and spirit are deeply interconnected, and that chronic health issues and pain can profoundly impact mental well-being. My goal is to be a supportive part of your healing journey with Dr. Tecaya.
I hold a B.A. in Psychology and Religious Studies from the University of Arizona, and a Master’s in Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University, a Buddhist-based school blending Western and Eastern approaches to mental health. Naropa’s focus on spiritual, mental, and physical healing aligns with my belief in treating the whole person.
My career has included roles as a community mental health counselor and a Readjustment Counselor at the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I worked with active duty personnel, veterans, and their families on issues like anxiety, depression, PTSD, bereavement, and personal growth.
I’ve always been fascinated by human nature and how we relate to ourselves and others. My academic journey includes studying cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, and the psychology of consciousness, along with a deep interest in world religions—ranging from Christianity to Buddhism, Native American traditions to Greek mythology.
Originally from Tucson, I served in the military during the Gulf War, which broadened my perspective on the world and my own personal growth. My time at Naropa was transformative, both as a student and as a person, as I practiced self-reflection, meditation, and counseling. Through this process, I became aware of my own self-criticism and learned that life’s challenges are enough without adding unnecessary struggle.
As a counselor, my core passion is to help ease the difficulties of life by fostering a compassionate and supportive relationship with oneself—ultimately, to be one's own best friend.
I retired from the VA a few years ago and not currently licensed. I offer 50-minute sessions for $75. This service is for active patients of Dr Tecaya’s only. Please call Mendi at 520-222-6208 and give her your name and number and I will follow-up with an appointment.
I appreciate the chance to be of service and look forward to working together!
